Henckells has been making this sharpening steel at the named Twin Works throughout the 1800s so this item is clearly old. A New York store was opened in 1883 so the anglicized name Germany rather than Deutchland probably dates this item to around 1883 and almost certainly before WWI (store probably closed in 1917).
