Extensive and Accurate World Scenery Data Base

  • Over 20,000 real world airports included in the full scenery set

    Accurate and Detailed Sky Model

    FlightGear implements extremely accurate time of day modeling with correctly placed sun, moon, stars, and planets for the specified time and date. FlightGear can track the current computer clock time in order to correctly place the sun, moon, stars, etc. in their current and proper place relative to the earth. If it's dawn in Sydney right now, it's dawn in the sim right now when you locate yourself in virtual Sydney. The sun, moon, stars, and planets all follow their correct courses through the sky. This modeling also correctly takes into account seasonal effects so you have 24 hour days north of the arctic circle in the summer, etc. We also illuminate the correctly placed moon with the correctly placed sun to get the correct phase of the moon for the current time/date, just like in real life.

    What kind of documentation comes with Flight Gear?

    When you install the CD Program on your computer, it creates a Start Menu folder on your machine.  Inside the Start Menu folder, you can access several PDF manuals that go into detail how FlightGear works.  Included is a 213 page manual that covers just about everything, as well as a separate 102 page FlightGear Flight School.  Also included are several more quick reference guides in PDF format, and several dozen more readme files in html format.  In short, TONS of documentation and instructions come with it, but you have to take the TIME TO READ THROUGH IT.  We do not provide personal instructions or answer any tech support questions.

    How hard is it to learn to use this Flight Sim?

    The key word here is that this is a Simulator, not a game.  It takes time to read through and understand the controls and learn how to fly, just as it would flying for real.  You have to be willing to read through and understand what to do and which keys to push and so forth.  This isn't a video game for little kids with 3 buttons to push.  This is a simulator, expect to spend some time working at it to get good at it.  That said, once you get good at it, it's more than just a game.  This is a great self paced way to learn to prepare you for learning how to fly in real life.  This is more of a simulator than a game, so you will need to read up in the above mentioned documentation on how to work the controls to get off the ground in one piece.

    This item is being sold at clearance prices, and hence, WE DO NOT PROVIDE TECHNICAL SUPPORT FOR THIS ITEM.  ALL TECH SUPPORT QUESTIONS WILL BE REFERRED BACK TO THE MANUAL.

    Ok, lets be frank and honest here.  You are purchasing a piece of software from us for a few bucks.  We did not write the software, we are simply a distributor.  We cannot afford to spend time emailing everyone telling them step by step how to work this software and what to do.  There are HUNDREDS of pages of documentation included here, it is your responsibility to read through it.  We're amazed by how many people from time to time email us and ask us literally "how do I fly a plane" as if we're expected to provide one on one coaching support through email and walk you through it.  How can we possibly condense 300+ some odd pages of instructions into a 3 line email?  And how can you possibly expect us to instruct you one on one?  If you purchased a copy of Office from Wally World, would you call up Wally World and ask them how to format paragraphs in Word?  I mean, we're trying to put some humor and perspective in here to illustrate what some folks expect and we don't know how much more we can tell you upfront as to what to expect later.  And the funny thing is, this piece of software comes with more documentation than just about any other piece of software we have ever seen, and yet we still get those questions.  Ok, with all due respect, please understand, we will not be answering technical questions on this product after the sale and coach you through it.  We simply cannot afford to spend that kind of time providing support for this price, please be respectful of that fact.  It is your responsibility to do your research and understand what you are doing with the program.  If this is unacceptable to you, please do not purchase.  By purchasing this product, you have agreed not to expect us to provide technical support and you agree to answer your own questions  If you'll notice, our Feedback is among the best in the business.  Out of the few negs we've gotten in the past year, that you can count on one hand, much of them is from folks who email us and literally ask us "how do I fly?" and we feel we need to start addressing that in this listing up front.  If you email us asking us "how do I work it", we will email you back and tell you to read the 300+ pages of documentation.  We simply do not know of a nice way to address this any nicer, we're sorry if that bothers you.

    But c'mon, I'm having trouble, how do I get an F-16 off the ground?  What do I do?

    What you need to do is read the manual that comes with the software.  We are not in a position to provide tech support on this product.  We cannot afford to spend the time doing it, and most importantly, we don't have a way to help you in an email and we have no idea how anyone could explain how to run this software in a two line email to someone who asks "what do I do?". 

    All tech support questions, from the most basic to the most complex, will be referred back to reading the manual.

    All items are shipped by USPS first class mail.  In an effort to keep our costs down, that are passed along as low prices to you, all of our disks are packaged and shipped in economic sleeves and mailers.  All of our disks are labeled with a clean label and some graphics.  The disks are made this way for speed and cost, which translates into lower cost for you.  We focus our efforts on the quality of the material on the disk.  We do not believe in charging you an extra 3 or 4 dollars like some companies out there just to throw in a 25 cent plastic case and slap a color label on an item.  We believe you purchase for content, and ours is the best, although we still believe you will be pleased with the presentation.


    PLEASE READ ABOUT SHIPPING TIMES:

    The estimated delivery dates shown above are ebay's estimates, not ours.  Sometimes ebay's dates are completely unrealistic.  Every effort is made to get your item out the next day, but once it leaves us, we ask that you please understand that we do not guarantee delivery by any date, since the USPS does not give us a guarantee either.  Below is our estimates on what to expect:

    USA CUSTOMERS    :  Most times, your package will arrive in about 1 week after we ship them depending on where you are at.  However, lately the Post Office it seems has not been very cooperative with us and we've had a couple of customers wait a few days longer than that.  If the item does not arrive, please email us directly and let us know, and we will make it right.

    NON-USA CUSTOMERS    :  Same deal above,  except your packages typically have been taking about 2 weeks or so after we ship them.  We've noticed that maybe 20% of overseas customers have been waiting as long as 4+ weeks for these shipments.  The only explanation we can come up with is that it must be stuck in some container in some dock waiting on customs clearance.  It happens, and for those 20% of customers, we apologize, but there is very little we can do about that.  Your disk will arrive or we will replace it.

    Multiple items purchased by the same customer may or may not be shipped in the same package, at our discretion.  We do not offer any additional discounts on multiple items other than the ones noted above.
