Mont-Saint-Michel and Chartres by Henry Adams with an Introduction by Ralph Adams Cram, Illustrated, and Published by Houghton Mifflin Company Boston and New York, printed at the Riverside Press, Cambridge, Mass., Copyright 1904 by the Author and with 1913 Editor's Note. This is the 18th Impression of February 1928.

It is a large art book, sized 10 3/8 by 7 3/4", in two-toned medium brown cloth and lighter tan board, ragged edged pages, and with a full color tissue protected frontispiece of the Tree of Jesse Stained Glass Window at Chartres Cathedral and 12 other full page black and white illustrated plates, with some inter-textual architectural drawings, poetry sections, geneology charts,  and more. This was published by Authority of the American Institute of Architects, but it is as much a book of Church History, with sections on St Thomas Aquinas, Abelard and the European Mystics in their associations with these two famous spiritual places of medieval European culture.

Condition of the volume graded Very Good. The book is used, but gently, there is some corner bumping to the boards and spine edges, but the interior is fresh, clean and unmarked, but with previous owner's signature in two places on the inside front cover- an over-all  handsome book.
