"Theater Five" was ABC Radio's last attempt at network, dramatic radio. The network aired the half-hour anthology series in the mid 1960s. The show's title - "Theater Five" referred to the time slot it aired - weekday afternoons at 5 PM.
The series aired from 1964 to 1965. Edward Byron was Executive Producer and Fred Foy was the announcer.
Most of the stories are from the science-fiction genre, though there are other dramatic episodes as well. The show opens with a jazzy theme that was very common to television shows of the time.
Recurring stars include: Ralph Bell, Robert Dryden, Bryna Rayburn, Evie Juster, Jackson Beck, William Redfield and others.
Fred Foy, of Lone Ranger announcing fame, also serves as the announcer for this series. Fay was a staff announcer for ABC for over 20 years.

A note concerning sound quality. The sound quality for the shows in this collection is very good to good. It is difficult to find perfect recordings from the golden age of radio due to the equipment used for recording and the fact that many of the recordings were made 60, 70 or even 80 years ago.
