Follow these simple checks to ensure that this screen is compatible with your laptop.

Although this screen is listed as being the model mentioned in this listing, laptop manufacturers have been known to use different screens over time for the same model. Because of this, it is better to follow these simple steps to guarantee compatibility.

1. Ensure your laptop screen is LED.

This is evident by the fact that there is only one connector going to the screen, and there is no inverter board on the laptop, or additional 2-wire CCFL cable.

2. Check that your laptop screen size is 15.6", and has a resolution of 1366x768 (16:9 aspect ratio)

These screens are not compatible with 15.4" models and screens with a 16:10 aspect ratio or different resolution.

3. Check that your video cable has 40 pins, and is in the correct location (bottom leftt)

The number of pins on your LVDS/video cable must match, and you must ensure that your video cable will reach.

If your screen matches these requirements, and matches the pictures included here, it is compatible, even if the model number is different.

As is the case with many different types of electronics, laptops sold by Dell, Sony, Toshiba, HP, Apple, etc. are not actually produced by the company at all. Rather, the companies source parts from many different manufacturers, and the final assembly occurs in one of only a few factories (Foxconn, Pegatron, etc.). Simply searching "Apple Suppliers 2011" will give you a list, published by Apple, of over 200 suppliers they use for their production.

The screens used by all major laptop brand are produced by only a hand full of laptop screen manufacturers, namely,LG/Philips, Samsung, AUO, ChiMei, Chunghwa, to name a few. These companies all supply many laptop brands, and the brands also use many different laptop screen manufacturers.

Two identical laptops from the same brand may use 2 different brands of screens, however both are built to the same specification and and are cross-compatible with each other. So as long as you match up your screen with the above 'compatibility check' you won't have any problems with compatibility.
