Terpsichore on a Mask of Thespis
Acrylic on stretched Canvas   18" x 36"
artist: Christopher CARLO
Back to 1929.  Being the one-man advertising and art department for Chicago's Music Box Theatre (art, repertory, classic films and any film out of the ordinary) for over 22 years, I have a file cabinet of old newspaper advertising and studio publicity shots.  Reinterpreting these old newspaper and theatre ads in color is fun.

About the artist: I have been trained by a family of artists and artisans. Three generations of art have been my heritage. My style has developed over time to be, I believe, recognizable as my own. My influences are color, faces, art circa 1933, movie palace decor and 1930's movie advertising art. I would, in particular, note influence by Art Deco muralist Charles Stafford Duncan (Paramount Theatre, Oakland CA) for his dramatic use of black and The Freed Unit at MGM for their dramatic use of Technicolor.

Thus far, I am happy to have my paintings in private collections in Carlsbad CA, Benicia CA, Chicago IL, Denver CO, Raleigh NC and Nevis, West Indies.

Sold unframed.
