These socks are made by some of the finest craftsmen in Italy. They are made from 100% double mercerized Egyptian cotton.   In Italy is identified as FILO DI SCOZIA or  Fil D'ecosse.                                                                                                        
For those unfamiliar with the term, these are top quality long staple cottons  which have gone through special processes. The first is mercerisation - sometimes double mercerisation - with which we are all familiar. The second process is called "singing" (from 'to singe' - we do not croon at the cotton). Here, the cotton is quickly passed through a small gas flame to burn off the excess fibers and create a smoother surface which yields a more sensuous feel.Cotton lisle is also known as Fil D'ecosse.        Specially created for those with circulatory problems,diabetes and swelling of the feet. in fact, the cuff of this sock adheres avoiding the compression of the limb, as the elasticity is given by the knitting itself and not the elastic.

What is Filo Di Scozia?
The trademark, "Filo di Scozia®" (two ply, long staple, double mercerized cotton), has always been used to indicate the highest grade cotton fabrics with unique characteristics of brilliance, softness, silky hand, solid dyes and, above all, the ability to maintain these characteristics over time. These precious fabrics feature:
The Most Luxurious Cotton Yarn spun exclusively from the finest long-staple cotton. The yarn is Combed to eliminate the shorter, weaker fibers. It Is Twisted and Doubled; in other words, made up of two identical quality strands. The twisting operation more than doubles its original strength;
It Is Singed, that is, run across a gas flame which burns off any protruding fibers to achieve maximum smoothness and sheen. Finally, Filo Di Scozia® is Double Mercerized. Mercerized cotton fibers absorb more perspiration than any other fiber and dry readily, feeling pleasant and cool against the skin.
