Lovely mid 20th Century, or possibly earlier Saye Gosha. Very beautiful, soft pallet, of colors (some look to be natural dyes) and well executed design make for charming piece. The condition is decent for the age, there are a couple of stains and a couple loose spots in the embroidery.

Saye gosha are used by the many Turkic tribes and display their characteristic motifs and patterns. They also show the high value set on embroidery, and the tribeswomen’s pleasure in embellishing their homes.

In Zentralasien wurden die Wände von Palästen, aber auch von einfachen Behausungen und Jurten mit spektakulären Behängen versehen, die als suzani (das Persische Wort für Nadelarbeit) bezeichnet werden. Suzanis dienen zum Schmuck der Hochzeitshalle, als Baldachin für Braut und Bräutigam und als Decke auf dem Hochzeitbett.
