This is a complete kit for professionally replacing all surrounds on a pair of AR-9 Speakers, both the 4 woofers and 2 lower mid ranges. Savings is realized by purchasing all surrounds and materials at one time and by combined shipping.

• Assembled from components selected over the years while replacing the surrounds on many, many AR speaker drivers. This is not a generic surround replacement kit. The components and detailed instructions were selected explicitly for Acoustic Research speaker drivers.
• This kit was utilized on our own AR-9 Restoration depicted.
• The AR9 speakers have two 12 inch woofers per cabinet and one 8 inch lower mid range. The lower mid range surround failure is always fails at or shortly after the woofer failures. All surrounds should be replaced at the same time Note that the lower mid range utilized a dust cover somewhat larger than most surround kits, approx. 3 in. in diameter. Later in production, AR changed to the same size as the woofer, approx. 2.75 in. There was no technical reason, it just simplified inventory and production. We will be shipping the larger original size. 
• The kit includes; a total of  six foam surrounds, a set of shims for centering the voice coil (go the extra measure and center the voice coil), one and a half containers of adhesive (It is strong, fast drying and dries clear.), three adhesive applicator bottles, six dust covers that you literally drop in place when done and a step-by-step set of instructions specific to the AR-9. If your gasket is torn and not usable, you may find foam gasket material in department OTHER SPEAKER SERVICE PARTS.
• There are two key components ensuring the correct performance; the foam surround must have the correct flexibility and roll diameter. If this is not correct, the stroke of the driver cone will be limited and thus, the bass notes. These surrounds are correct for AR speakers.
• Additionally, shimming is necessary to guarantee that the voice coil remains centered in the magnetic gap. If you don't get this right, you run the risk of the voice coil rubbing on the magnet pole piece and causing distortion. We shim every driver we repair. We are very good at this but never take the chance of not shimming and later discovering the rub after all the work has been done.
