Gel Wax / Jelly Wax for Candle Making

For making transparent candles and also as support for artificial flower arrangements.

Gel / Jelly Wax is great for scent throw and long burn time, used in containers, and you can add various (make sure they are safe) embellishments for example shells... it does however take longer to melt than say Soy Wax...

Please always refer to candle making instructions freely available on the web when making candles and melting waxes.

Making Gel candles:

1: Tear off lumps of gel and place in a heat resistant container. Put the container in a large pan of simmering water. Alternatively you can you can place the heat resistant container directly on the hob, but on no account let it boil.

2: When the gel is warm and has turned to liquid, dye may be added a little at a time.

3: Likewise wax perfume may be added at this time.

4: Pour a little of the molten wax into your chosen vessel, usually a drinking glass or a ready made candleholder. Warming the vessel first minimises air bubble as the wax solidifies. Add the wick preferably with a sustainer fixed to the end. Tying the open end of the wick around a cocktail stick put across the rim of the glass will help keep the wick straight.

5: Add the rest of the molten wax to the desired depth. Objects or confetti shapes or beads may be added at anytime, but these must be heat resistant.
