This is NOT AN OEM KIT. The parts in this kit will get your amplifier working because these electronic parts have the same function & electrical characteristics of the original equipment parts. All Capacitors are radial not Axial. Of course. Useable tubes. Functioning Relays. Some parts may be of a higher current or voltage rating than original. They will work fine. The transistors may not be the same part number , but they will work if installed correctly. ( E.B.C.) Emitter Base Collector.

You have to have TOOLS. Such as a 30 to 60 watt Iron or variable larger soldering gun, solder & paste . At least one surgical tweezer ; needle nose plier & Cheap Analog Multimeter. Optional but good to have. Transistor checker/Capacitor tester.

A basic understanding of BJT transistors. Like emitter, base , collector & the LOCATION of the he legs of the PNP or NPN transistors in the kit. How Diodes function. Signal & rectifier diodes. Anode - cathode. Capacitors - + How relays work.

You can teach yourself quickly these basics. DO NOT BUY THIS KIT IF YOU

THINK IT IS "PLUG & PLAY" & DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU THINK IT IS

SOMETHING Else OTHER than a Colection of PARTS to be Installed BY YOU.

To conserve my free listings. I have consolodated several kits into one listing.

Please leave me a message as to which kit you want.

Palomar 90A kit

Due to several requests; Here is a kit to repair/refurbish the popular Palomar 90A amplifier.

The schematic is easily found online.

2X Through hole Modern fresh HV Capacitors. 120UF 450 volts As in picture Radial not Axial.

2X 22uf Electrolytic 50v

2X 47uf  50V      1X 1uf  50v       1X 1000uf    25v   2X key-up transistors 1X receive transistor

4x small signal diodes 1N914 repaces 1N3062 if necessary.

4x 1N5408  In bridge rectifier configuration 3 Amp rating. You must solder

& fallow schematic found on CB tricks Replaces original if necessary. Original is rated 1 amp.Replaces if necessary square 1 piece bridge.

Please read the Palomar Skipper add to get an idea of how and why. Even if you are a novice.

Soldering is easy. Just practice on junk electronics first.

Do parts one at a time. On transistors mark EBC. Caps + & -. & remember.

The Voltages are Lethal. Unplug Amp. Discharge High voltage Caps to ground.

2 X 150uf 450v Nichicon

3 X 2N2907 2 extra just in case. Replaces 2N2905 key up transistor

CAUTION................................. Always unplug Amplifier................................... Always discharge High Voltage Capacitors to Ground

Pal BD 351

I did not realize I have one in my collection ! Forgot. Have to check the 8950s !

Someone requested a kit. Well here it is.

30uf HV Capacitor OEM is definitely on the low side. Lowers the P.E.P. & stresses

the iron. Similar vacumm tube boxes. Skipper, Palomar 321, Maco 200 etc. use minimum 80uf up to 150uf at 450v.

100uf at 450v will work fine. Only 800v no load at the plate. Well Tooo many radios

and boxes so little time. I'll chuck mine in the car after I refurb it and fire it up into a dummy load and check it on the Coaxial Dynamics watt meter with Bird Slugs.

One of THESE DAYS that is !

HIGH VOLTAGE Kills pay attention to what you are doing. Unplug Amp. Discharge the HV caps to ground.
