Saint Ignatius by Christopher Hollis, published by Sheed & Ward, New York, 1945, with a 1931 copyright by the publishers, printed in USA.

8 3/8 by 5 3/4" light tan cloth hard cover, 287 pages, with gilded title against brown on the spine. I note that there is a separately tipped in Imprimatur by Cardinal Spellman, archbishop of New York, inside the front cover (see photo #2), probably because this information was not included in this first Sheed & Ward American edition.

Including a beautiful piece of poetry at the beginning: 'Ballad of Our Lady of Manresa', this is one of the best biographies of St Ignatius Loyola, Founder of the Jesuits- thoroughly researched and an excellent read.

Condition of the book graded Very Good. The text is fresh, clean and unmarked ; it is ex libris Congregation Notre Dame with library card pocket still affixed in the back and  handwritten script on top 1st page flyleaf. The cover boards show a bit of light generalized surface wear, interior text very fresh and clean- a collectible in Religious Biography.
