This is a silver plated pendant and earring set, hand made in Taxco, Mexico. Each piece is hammered silver with a heart containing inlaid lab opals. 

The pendant is 1 inch wide and hangs 2 inches including the bale. The earrings are ¾ inch wide and hang 1-¾ inches including the hook.

Lab opal is not synthetic. It is grown for over a year and has a structure very similar to natural precious opals. Lab opals have advantages over naturally occurring opals: The first is cost, precious opals are rare and expensive. In addition, lab opals do not contain water (natural opals do) and are not prone to cracking. Lastly, the color of lab opal is stable.

Silver plating consists of a base metal electroplated with 100% pure silver. Sterling silver is 92.5% silver, the remainder can be any metal. Silver plating puts 100% pure silver against your skin!

From time to time people ask, How do I know this piece comes from Taxco, Mexico? Here is my answer: Since the year 2000, I have traveled to Taxco, Mexico twice a year to buy jewelry for Silver Dream. I can tell you the flights and buses I take to get there :)
