This collection of "Words At War" radio programs features 90 shows on 1 compact disc. Each episode is presented in the .mp3 format. There are over many hours of entertaining "Words At War" episodes.

The CD is labeled and provided in a highly protective jewel case. A list of the programs on the disc as well as the date the program originally aired (if known) is also provided.

A note concerning sound quality. The sound quality for the shows in this collection is very good to good. It is difficult to find perfect recordings from the golden age of radio due to the equipment used for recording and the fact that many of the recordings were made 60, 70 or even 80 years ago.

HERE'S SOME BACKGROUND INFORMATION FOR "WORDS AT WAR":

'Words At War' was an anthology of war stories, "told by the men and women who have seen them happen." It was produced in cooperation with the Council on Books in Wartime, promising "stories of the battlefronts, of behind-the-scenes diplomacy, of underground warfare, of the home front, of action on the seas." Each show was to be "a living record of this war and the things for which we fight."

Opening in the war's most critical year, 'Words at War' hit the air with a punch that no postwar "now it can be told" rehash could ever match. It was praised by Variety as "one of the most outstanding programs in radio:; by the New York Times as the "boldest, hardest-hitting program of 1944" and many others.

The series ran from June 24, 1943 - June 5, 1945 on NBC Radio.
