. Each of the different colors have different added minerals, with specific metaphysical properties in their own right. Because these qualities are added to the energy of the quartz, each of the different colored stones have unique metaphysical attributes. All the colors will support you to balance the male and female energies within you, regardless of your sex. Leadership qualities are said to be enhanced by using any colors of Aventurine stones.
Aventurine is a variety of quartz characterized by its translucency and sparkly metallic inclusions. Glittery inclusions are typically composed of muscovite mica, which usually results in medium to dark green aventurine stones with a silvery green or blue sheen. The metallic inclusions give aventurine quartz a unique sparkling iridescent effect, known as aventurescence. In addition to muscovite mica, hematite or goethite may also be included, which also yields iridescence. Aventurine typically ranges from light to dark-green in color. Aventurine's color is caused by trace elements of fuchsite in otherwise colorless quartz. Fuchsite is a chromium-rich variety of muscovite. Aventurine is often so heavily included with fuchsite, that it is technically defined as a rock and not a mineral. Despite this technicality, aventurine is still classified as quartz by most, who consider fuchsite to be only an inclusion within the quartz.
Aventurine's unique optical phenomenon of 'aventurescence'
ranges in intensity from weak to intense. The level of intensity depends on the
density and size of metallic inclusions. The body color of aventurine also
varies depending on inclusions. In fact, most aventurine quartz appears banded
and exhibits noticeable lighter and darker color zones. Aventurine has a grainy
texture in its rough state, but displays an attractive, soft and dull vitreous
luster when polished. Aventurine quartz is sometimes confused with aventurine
feldspar, but feldspar occurs orange to red and has a higher level of
transparency, which makes it easily distinguishable. Aventurine feldspar is now
commonly referred to as 'sunstone', leaving the name 'aventurine' to refer
primarily to the quartz variety. Aventurine is primarily used at the heart
chakra to activate and clear. It is also an excellent protector of the heart
chakra, creating a shield to those who would tap-in and use the energy of
another. It provides balancing of male/female energies, enhancing creativity,
supplementing motivation in activities, and augmenting the
"pioneering" spirit. It also reinforces ones decisiveness, amplifies
ones leadership qualities, and is a willing participant in instinctive action.
It aids in balancing and alignment of intellectual, emotional, physical, and
auric bodies. It is used in rituals of the medicine wheel, to show to the
spirit guides the connection with the healing light of the heart. In such
ceremonies it is held at the heart of each participant around the medicine
wheel; it has been reported that, during contact with spirit guides, the
participants have felt a "wash of love "fall around them. Since there
is so much shining mica in the piece, properties of mica are also pertinent.
Mica provides both reflective and self-reflective qualities. The reflective so
one can recognize the flaws of humanity and can remain in a heart space to
continue to love this same humanity. It can also facilitate clarity in visions
and mysticism. As far as the self-reflection, it allows one to recognize that
"in each person you see but the reflection of that you choose to have that
person be".
Feng Shui: Works in
any area or in your life, which needs an emotional lift. It helps with any
negative direction where better choices or good luck is needed. Aventurine is
associated with the North area related to career and the West area relating to
creativity.
Aventurine Stones and Crystals... Increase Optimism and Self
Confidence
Aventurine was originally an accidental discovery made by
Venetian glass workers during the 18th century. The name 'aventurine' was
derived from the Italian words "a" and "ventura", which
mean "by chance". The Miotti family from Italy created an iridescent
Italian glass known as 'goldstone', which closely resembles aventurine.
Goldstone was accidentally made when copper filings spilled into a batch of
glass during production. This was the birth of goldstone and artificial
aventurine. Muscovite mica was also named after a type of glass, known as
'Muscovy glass'.
Aventurine is most often thought of as a green variety of
quartz, but it can naturally occur in variety of other colors, including grey,
brown, peach, yellow, red, pink and blue. The most common color is green but it
sometimes comes in black, blue, red, pink, etc. depending on where it grows and
what other minerals it combines with. Other colors are quite rare as gemstones
because they do not often occur in gem-quality. Specimens with hematite
inclusions are typically red-brown or gold-brown and those included with
goethite will usually occur greenish brown. Muscovite mica inclusions are most
common, resulting in silvery green or blue colored sheen. Aventurine typically
appears slightly banded with light and dark color zones. . The most common
color is green but it sometimes comes in black, blue, red, pink, etc. depending
on where it grows and what other minerals it combines with. Mica inclusions
give the give the stone a yellowish or silverish glitter or sheen. Goethite and
Hematite inclusions give the stone a reddish or grayish glitter or sheen.
Fuschite inclusions give the stone a greenish sheen.
Quartz has been used for centuries for gemstones and other
ornamental objects. Some of the earliest known primitive tools were composed of
quartz and discovered in Ethiopia's Omo Valley. Many of the tools date back
more than two and a half million years and were found to be constructed from
aventurine quartz. Aventurine is a superior material for tool-making because of
its excellent hardness and also its isotropic brittleness that allows it to be
shaped relatively easily. Aventurine stones are crystals that contain a good
amount of quartz in them, along with inclusions of various other minerals,
which gives them their specific color. They are important stones to have within
your collection for quite a few reasons. One major reason is that the quartz
within them gives these crystals a strong ability to amplify energy. The
Aventurine stones have slightly different metaphysical properties depending on
the color.
