9 1/2 by 6 3/8" medium red cloth hard cover with title in black on the spine, map end papers both front and back, 389 pages including notes, bibliography and index in the back with black and white frontispiece and eight other full page b/w illustrations, dust jacket remnants come with the book including advertisement flaps (see photo #7).

It is the engrossing story of Jesuit Matteo Ricci and his companions, who opened up Western communications with the courts of China in the 1600s. Condition of the book graded Almost Fine, being a withdrawn Trent University volume with bookplate from the school behind 1st page flyleaf and remnant of library card on inside back cover... but otherwise the book is fresh, very clean and unmarked- a classic in Church History.
