This flag is printed on a strong, lightweight 150 denier polyester fabric.

History of the 15 Star South Carolina Sovereignty Secession Flag of 1861:

The South Carolina Convention adopted this particular flag, made of silk, with a red field bearing a blue cross, representing the Cross of St George, and which were set 15 stars representing the 15 southern states.  One of the stars, central and larger than the others, represents South Carolina.  Also found in the upper most quadrant adjacent to the staff was a white palmetto tree with a reversed crescent.

This flag was observed flying over the Alumni Hall at Yale College Jan 20th, 1861; and pictured in the publication of the Courier Journal Printing Co. Lexington KY

This particular flag was considered at Yale to be "A Flag Worthy of the State and People of South Carolina."
