Don't buy cheap ribbons which need tape to attach, and does not long last. This ribbon attaches by heat-seal using a T-head tip on a soldering iron.

SAAB 9-3 and 9-5 models all have the very common LCD display failure on the SID and the AC unit, which ends up in missing or fading pixels on the screen. If you have the following failures on your LCD, you probably facing the same issue:

- Single pixels or complete lines of pixels have disappeared.

- SID2 displays are difficult or impossible to read.

The pixel problem lies with the ribbon cable that connects the LCD display to the circuit board of the SID 1. Dead and fading LCD pixels can be restored DIY simply replacing the faulty ribbon cable. LCD pixel failure repair kits, ribbon cables are now available for DIY repairs.

Kit includes:

  • 1x SAAB Ribbon SID 2
  • 1x T-Head 5mm which fits in regular Soldering Iron which can hold 5mm T-Tip 
  • 1x Torx Screw driver 
  • Instructions manual (COMPLETE SERIES OF PICTURES with text).

Please let me enlighten the difference between the SID 1 and the SID 2.

SID 1 displays the check messages and has 4 trip computer functions
SID 2 displays the check messages and has 8 trip computer functions, SID 2 has adjustable speed warning too

It is your responsibility to make sure that your SID is SID1 or SID 2. 

You will get one ribbon and if you will not mension you need SID1, I will post SID 2 Ribbon

Hi all,JUst wanted to say thanks again for this item.fitted it today and
now my SID is perfect!Very straight forward with those very clear
instructions.The photos and diagrams really help.I can see it would be easy
to make a mistake if you didnt concentrate in lining up the ribbon
exactly,especially on the LCD.you saved me lots of money going DIY over
sending it off,so many thanks again.
