This beautiful Ikebana woven wicker reed/bamboo lacquered  vase/basket has been a  family heirloom for just about a century.  Finely woven and well taken care of.  This was a gift to my grandmother from a friend  before my father was born, he is 85 years old. It's a beautiful horse chestnut color on the outside, deeper color than the pictured. . Woven design on sides of vase and small, finely woven smoothly rounded on top and bottom. Please see all pictures, as they are also part of the description. This was originally used as a vase with insert, but the insert has long been gone. We can trace this basket as far back as the the turn of the last century.  It measures about 4  1/2" tall. About  7  1/4" in diameter.  Opening is 3" in diameter, so you would need a 4" tall and 3" in diameter insert to use it as a vase once again.  What a beautiful statement it would make sitting alone on a table with one miniature orchid inside !!! Excellent antique condition.
