In diesen Stickereien drücken die Frauen ihr ganzes künstlerisches Gestalten und handwerkliches Können. Oft hat man den Eindruck, sie sticken auf die Kleidung ein wenig ihre Welt.

Antique Jung Girls headdress from Nuristan.

Very nice and very rare example of antique Nuristan Valley clothing. This is a very classic example of the textiles from Nuristan Valley, covered in finely worked embroidery, bead work, and covered in a slew of buttons that served as protective amulets. There is an exceptional fine band along the bottom with attached beadwork, above this there is a band that goes all the way around with a classic Nuristan Valley "tree of life" design, followed by a row of stars, then diamonds that would have also like served as protective amulets, then followed by another finely worked narrow band, again followed by a "tree of life design"

The beadwork on the back side bellow the neck line is quite interesting as the embroidery continues behind it but is complete obscured. The neck band with metallic thread appears to be a replacement. The most of lining cloth appears original but the pockets perhaps are a later addition.

Height about 123 cm and width about 117 cm

Very good condition for a piece that is probably older that 80 – 90 years.
