This kit contains the materials to do at least one full-size casting of the following types: mom or dad & baby; wedding/anniversary hands; couples hands; praying hands; grandparent and baby; children holding hands, etc.
Instructions for use:
On average use 1lb of alginate material per cast. You can use 0.5lb for one hand or if it is a kid's hands.
The mixing ratio on the alginate is 1:1 with water, the water should be 80° Fahrenheit. Please take into consideration that it is always good to have more water nearby to moisture hands so it can be runnier.
First put the alginate into a clean and dry bucket, then pour the water on the top of the alginate powder with 1:1 mixing ratio.
Please remember to have a little bit more water near you in case you need to thin the mixture a little bit if it is thicker than you want.
As soon as you put the water into the alginate remember that the clock starts ticking, and please do not forget that the water temperature is crucial.
You can mix it by the hand.
The average mixing time is 30 seconds.
The warmer the water the fastest will be the setting time.
The average setting time is 2:15 minutes so it is fast enough.
When you put your hand into the alginate please wait till it will mix up - color will fade out to white. As soon as you feel that the alginate is ready, take out your hand very slowly and carefully or you will destroy the alginate cast.
Now when the alginate cast is ready, please put out all the cast leftovers, so it will not compromise your cast.
The final step is to make a gypsum cast.
The gypsum mixing ratio is 3:1 that means that you need 3 volumes of gypsum and only one volume of water per mixture.
It's professional medical-grade high-resolution stone, by it's fairly easy to use and forgiving material.
Mix the gypsum with the water till you get a good thick but yet flow consistency, also can be mixed by hand.
As soon as the gypsum mixture is ready, pour a little into your alginate cast then swash it around and put it back. It is done to eliminate the bubbles on the sides of the cast.
When you have done it you can pour the gypsum inside the cast and give it 10-20 minutes to get set into a hard gypsum.
When the gypsum got hard - pull it out by turning the bucket over carefully, and then slightly patting it on the bottom, so the mold should slide out in one piece.
To get out the gypsum cast use a wooden stick and be gentle, clean it from the alginate residues, by hand or you can, unfortunately, ruin your hand cast.
When everything is ready to clean up the gypsum cast from any alginate leftovers, and be ready to paint it and do with it everything you want, now you can enjoy your fine hand cast.
Disposal of waste:
The empty package and unused material can be disposed of together with ordinary waste produced at the worksite.
Storage:
Store in a dry and dark place at 5 °C to 25 °C, in a well-sealed container.
