We are delighted to have back in stock these superb increased capacity intercooler radiators for the Jaguar XJR and XKR models (XJR 308 series and XKR 100 series). They fit all steel-bodied V8 XJR and XKRs, XJR 1998-2002 and XKR 1998-2005 models.
Several Jaguar specialists offer similar items, typically for upwards of £600 plus vat, total around £750. We have these excellent hand-finished all-aluminium radiators available at a realistic price, and they are UK-made.
In standard trim, the supercharged 4.0 V8 litre Jaguar engine puts a lot of strain on the intercooler circuit – quite simply, there isn’t either enough coolant or a big enough heat exchanger. Standard engines will lose power under heavy use as the ECU retards timing to compensate for increased inlet air temperatures. With one upgraded supercharger pulley, the condition is worsened, and with upper and lower pulleys both upgraded, there is serious risk of damaging pre-ignition and terminal engine failure if intercooling is not addressed (the same may apply with one upgraded pulley in particularly hot climates).
Our intercooler radiators offer not only increased fin exposure from a substantially thicker core (see the comparative picture above), but we have had them produced to maximise water capacity in the side tanks, doubling the overall water capacity of the intercooler circuit and hugely increasing the cooling buffer available for a spirited driving session, to protect your engine.
Unlike other, more expensive, upgraded coolers available, we have insisted that these were produced to take the snap-fit OEM Jaguar top hose fitting, saving the inconvenience of having to change your pipework.
We also highly recommend that this upgrade is complimented by a higher flow intercooler circuit water pump, available widely online.
These units come with instructions. Installation is virtually bolt-out/bolt in, with a couple of simple adjustments required.
