DESCRIPTION:  This is a RARE original cabinet photograph of the members of the Hampton Normal and Agricultural Institute championship football team!  This image dates to around 1912, as several of the players pictured are younger in this image than in the 1913 image we offer for sale in a separate auction listing. The team, under Coach L. L. Pepin, joined the Colored Intercollegiate Athletic Association in 1912. The following year, the team had an undefeated season to become the CIAA champion. The player names are not identified on the front of the photograph. The photography studio logo is embossed on the bottom right corner of the cardboard backing board. A nice addition to your Black Americana, Hampton University or HU memorabilia collection! 

CONDITION: VERY GOOD to NEAR MINT. Not inspected out of frame. Original period frame in which we located photograph with wooden board on back. One lightly darkened spots on image at top left corner area. No writing, rips, tears, foxing or age toning.
