Vintage costume from the collection of the Paris Opera House. These unisex black Doublets (I believe they are called) -bloomers / shorts have beautifully inlaid burgundy decorations trimmed in vivid yellow ochre. Lined in deep grey. Metal button closures engraved with the word "Paris", as well as the inventory marking inside. IN excellent condition. Exterior buttons at the waist I presume for suspenders and a rear middle section with a metal buckle over for accommodating variations in waist sizes. Purchased in Paris for my art practice, I am selling select pieces to fund new work.

16.5" - 17.5" waist measurement from top laid flat - the variation is allowed for by the construction of the garment with a buckle to tighten or allow for more room
14" from waist to crotch
19.5" hips - measured from the exterior but with the fact that the poofiness of the exterior material is larger than the room inside for the wearer
28" or more outer layer of fabric that balloons out creating the classic look of Elizabethan Doublet breeches!

I have had a time of findong out what the correct name of this garment is. They aren't pantaloons, they might be Tudor style
