These are one troy ounce .999 fine silver PROOF rounds designed by Anonymous Mint and produced by Osbourne Mint. The Welsh Red Dragon round is the third in a new series called Celtic Lore. The first was Merlin, second is The Morrigan, third is Welsh Red Dragon, fourth will be Cernunnos and the fifth will be Banshee. The round is stamped to a proof condition and then placed in an airtight capsule and display box. The Certificate of Authenticity is numbered and matches the number stamped on the edge of the round. These proof rounds are limited to 2000.
The artwork is a from world famous Howard Davis Johnson and the sculpting of Luigi Badia. The front depiction of the Welsh Red Dragon. Legends tell of the Red Dragon fighting an invading white dragon causing destruction in their wake. The King of Britain trapped the two dragons within a hill located in northwest Wales. In a later century, King Vortigern attempted to build a castle but progress was destroyed each night until he released the dragons. The Red Dragon defeated the white dragon and became the national symbol of Whales. The back features a Celtic knot and Celtic artwork.
