Set of two 1953 Stoneware Lovatts Elizabeth II Coronation Coffee Mugs


These are commemorative mugs produced for the 1953 Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. They have the royal coat of arms on the obverse and E II R on the reverse. They are made of off-white stoneware glazed in pale blue and were produced by the famed Lovatt, Langly Mill Potters of Derbyshire.


One is has crazing but no cracks or chips. The other has no aparent crazing but a single crack running from the base to the rim oposite the handle (difficult to see in the photos). They have a hallmark on the bottom that reads: “STONEWARE LOVATTS ENGLAND”.


Langley Mill Pottery was closed down in 1982 after 117 years of production.
