This is a fabulous quality antique Victorian circa 1890 sterling silver Scottish agate bracelet. The bracelet has a very fine selection of gemstones with stunning carved sections of different agates.

I have collected agates in Scotland for over 20 years and know where most of the lovely gemstones that Victorians used for their classic jewellery were found.

The superb stones are classic brown and white banded agates from Scudie Ness on the east coast and carnelian agates from Cupar in Fife. The padlock clasp also has a carnelian agate from Cupar in Fife.

The bracelet has no hallmarks which is fairly normal for pieces of this period, but has been fully tested and is sterling silver. The bracelet length is approx. 19.0 cm ( seven and a half inches ) and the max. width is 1.5 cm ( Three fifths of an inch ).
