Handwound Jazz Bass Alnico V Pickup Set

The Jazz Bass pickup set gives a tightly defined bottom-end with superb response to playing dynamics, solid and punchy mids and really clear highs and are available with black or white covers


These pickups sets are handcrafted and scatterwound to order in-house using traditional time tested materials and methods and with the bridge wound to 8.8k with 42awg wire and the neck to 7.9K. If you prefer, these pickups can also be over / underwound to your own preference at no additional cost, just ask

All sets include mounting screws and springs and wiring diagram
  • Pickup bobbins - Individually handbuilt using laser cut Forbon (vulcanized fibreboard) flatwork and sand cast Alnico 5 pole pieces
  • Bobbin Dipping - Dipped in nitro lacquer to prevent corrosive interaction between the AlNiCo poles and the delicate enamelled copper windings
  • Coil Winding - Individually hand wound with 42awg enamelled copper wire intentionally scattered randomly across the bobbin (scatter winding) thereby reducing capacitance interaction between winds producing superior detail, dynamics and the ultimate tone 
  • Coil Magnetising (Gaussing) - Hand magnetized using super strong Neodymium magnets
  • Hook up wires - Individually handwired with vintage 22 AWG, double insulated, pushback cloth covered hook up wire
  • Wax potting - Hand potted in pure beeswax which is softer at lower temperatures providing better protection for the delicate coil windings and removing unwanted resonances and minimising microphonic feedback at high volume settings (This can be omitted by request)
