We will be auctioning some cool fossils here over the next few weeks, so keep checking back.

This is an interesting fossil plate from the Middle Devonian of New York. This specimen was found and prepared years ago by trilobite savant, the late, great Eugene Thomas. There is a huge Spirifer brachiopod (1.6 inches across!) two distinct horn corals, and a partial Eldredgeops trilobite (under the left wing of the brach) on the plate. The brachiopod has been composited, the rest of the fossils are fully natural to the plate. The fossils are quite inflated and exhibit fine detail. The fossils are beautifully showcased on the large, squared plate of dense shale. This is an interesting display specimen of three different types of Devonian fossils from New York.
