SIZE GUIDE
Worldwide the sizes vary from one extreme to another and we want to make sure that the item you purchase is the correct sizing. We completely understand that waiting for an item is exciting and getting an item that doesn’t fit is very disappointing.
At Fi Fi Couture we list all our items in Australian sizes and use the following Australian sizing chart to size our women’s clothing items.
All our measurements are taken with the garment laying on a flat surface. We provide a measurement that is taken straight across the front of the garment. Double this measurement when comparing it to the chart below. An easy way to do this is to compare the measurements we have provided for you against those of a garment you already own. We will tell you if there is stretch in an item and how much the item will stretch to. If there is no stretch listed then there is no stretch in the fabric. If you are unsure about it fitting you then we suggest that you don’t buy it as we only accept returns for faulty goods. We try to get the measurements as close to the bottom chart as possible and we hope that this chart will alleviate most fitting problems but this chart is an approximation. If there are any variations to this chart we will advise this in the listing of the item.
HOW TO MAKE AN ACCURATE MEASUREMENT BUST On the garment, lay it flat and measure straight across from underarm to underarm. Double this measurement when comparing to the chart. On your body, measure around from arm pit to arm pit across the fullest part of your bust. WAIST On the garment, lay it flat and measure straight across the waistband. If there is no waistband measure across the smallest part of the waist. On your body for dresses measure around the smallest part of your waistline and be sure to keep the measuring tape straight. On your body for pants, shorts and skirts, measure around the part of the waist you want the garment to sit. Make sure to keep your forefinger between your body and the measuring tape. HIPS On the garment, lay it flat and measure straight across the largest part of the hips. Double this measurement when comparing to the chart. On your body, stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips while keeping the measuring tape straight. CROTCH On the garment, lay flat and measure from the bottom of the crotch seem to the top of the waist. LENGTH On the garment, lay it flat and measure from the top of the shoulder to the bottom of the hem. SLEEVE LENGTH On the garment, lay it flat and measure from the shoulder seam to the end of the sleeve. Measuring Tips
· Use your exact measurements when selecting your size · Keep the tape firm, but not tight · Measure over your undergarments · Ask someone to help measure you
DRESSING FOR YOUR BODY SHAPE Dressing for your shape is the only way to properly show off your best features and let’s face it who doesn’t want to do that? Doesn’t matter if you are skinny, curvy and or anything else, knowing how to dress for your shape can greatly increase your confidence and when you feel confident, then you have it all! Remember how you feel about yourself is extremely important and if you feel you look good then it will excel your confidence and when you have confidence you can do anything (well almost) probably should not go trying to fly a plane just yet but you might land that important job, get a date with that special someone who has always caught your eye or just make people wonder, Wow why does she look so good. So let’s figure out what your body shape is. We feel that there are 4 main body types, where do you fit?
APPLE – FULLER BREASTS, NARROW HIOS & SHAPELY LEGS
If you have this body shape, the majority of the weight will sit around your middle. Unfortunately, this can lead to other areas of your body seeming out of proportion. But the bonus is, you probably have a large bust, so you have got some great ways to draw attention away from the bits you don’t like! Make sure you have a good fitting bra and work those breasts! Wear dresses and tops that accentuate them, but not in a way that makes people think “OMG!”. Wear a lot of block colours, you don’t want to cut your body in two, so wearing the same colour on top and bottom (or similar shades) will achieve this. Wear v-neck tops / dresses and shapewear with great tummy support panels to keep everything nice and smooth. You will rock a-line and straight-cut skirts, just make sure they sit low on your waist so as not to segment your body too much.
PEAR – SLENDER NECK, DEFINED WAIST, CURVY HIPS & BUTT If you have this body shape, you will tend to carry more weight around your hips, thighs and buttocks and be slimmer on top. To dress right for your shape, you want to focus on finding a balance between your upper and lower halves. Avoid tight fitting skirts and pants (unless you want to rock out that booty!) and aim for bright coloured tops / dresses and bottoms like a-line skirts and boot-cut jeans/pants to taper out your bottom half. Some slight shoulder padding is also a great way to balance out your shape, but don’t think 80′s shoulder pads, think slim and you’ll be fine! HOURGLASS SHOULDERS & WAIST ARE THE SAME WIDTH, DEFINED WAIST & SHAPELY LEGS If you have this shape, I’m sure you are the envy of your friends! Everything’s in proportion! Still, it can be difficult to keep everything looking great and this shape is one that you definitely want to keep accentuating your curves! You need to focus on clothes that highlight your great waist, so dresses that taper into your waist and skirts and pants that fit well are going to make your look and feel amazing. RECTANGLE – BROAD BACK, BALANCED FIGURE, GREAT LEGS & ARMS If you have this shape, you are pretty much even from top to toe. This can make it a little harder to dress though, as you have no major distinguishing body bits to accentuate, so you need to create some curves! The best way to do this is to stick with feminine colours and shapes that draw the eye to your slim waist and hips. Stick to low-hung and fitted pants and skirts and dresses but avoid anything baggy – this will only make you look more boyish. Don’t wear plunging v-neck tops or low-cut tops, unless you’ve got an ample breast to show it off. Instead, opt for scoop or polo neck styles that are nice and fitted and wear padded bras for more shape and lift.
