If you are looking for a Plasma Type parka this is probably your last chance to own something, IMO, better than the Plasma parka. The MacPac is fully baffled including the arms and unlike every other manufacturer today MacPac did not skimp on the amount of goose down used to fill this amazing parka. I contacted MacPac to see if it would be released again this season and they said "We are replacing this next year with the Ember down jacket. Similar but with slightly heavier our fabric to inprove durability. "
Same issues Marmot had with the Plasma series, too light of a material to warranty.

The Equinox Alpine Series Down Jacket is an update of the classic Macpac
Equinox. It has undergone extensive testing and refinement as part of
our partnership with the renowned New Zealand Alpine Team. Optimized for
technical outdoor adventures where minimal weight and maximum warmth is
critical, the Equinox is incredibly lightweight and weather resistant.
It's filled with high quality 800 loft HyperDRY™ goose down, encased in
Quantum® GL - one of the lightest fabrics Pertex® has ever made. Ideal
for mountaineering, tramping, travel, and urban use.
Design features
- Pertex® super lightweight 10d nylon shell with DWR treatment for water resistance
- Filled with 800 loft HyperDRY water resistant goose down
- Fully boxed baffled construction with a longer cut and internal draft tube to reduce cold spots
- Helmet compatible box baffled hood with face adjustments, lightweight stiffened peak
- YKK® double slider centre front zipper
- Two large internal mesh pockets for bottles or gloves
- Soft Pontetorto stretch microfleece internal cuff
- Packs into hand pocket, with hanger loop
Care
Wash only as necessary
Warm hand wash in non-detergent pure soap or Nikwax Down Wash®
Handle with care when wet
Rinse well by gently kneading the down
Do not bleach
Do not use fabric softener
Dry flat in shade initially, then tumble dry on low heat several times to separate the clumps of down
