This vintage lady's beaver hat (early 1920's) from the Elder's store is a wonderfully preserved artifact. Yes, for those interested in knowing, this "Elders" is the front half of the Elder-Beerman store that merged in 1962. The original box accompanying this hat is itself a great historical piece. There is a small water stain on the inside of the box - see picture - but again its overall condition is great. Inside the box there are two notes. One note talks about a "handkerchief" that was not in the box when I purchased it. The other note speaks of a lady's grandmother, who owned the hat when she was twelve years old. The approximate date for the production of the hat is assumed from the note that says the hat was made "about" 1922. The hat and box were purchased from a estate sale yesterday (12/15/2018). The estate sale was at a retired judges home. Again, please see pictures and ask questions as desired.
