KURIOS is the Cirque du Soleil's 35th production since its establishment in 1984, and was specially

produced to commemorate the group's 30th anniversary.
The name “KURIOS—the word “curios” spelt
with a “k” to become a unique Cirque du Soleil word—is derived from the word “curiosity” and means
“intriguing objects.” From its premier in 2014 to the conclusion of its run of performances in New York in
November 2016, Kurios has been seen by 1.9 million people, and the group eventually expects over
two million people to see the show. KURIOS will have its Japanese premier in Tokyo in February 2018.
It will go on to tour Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, and Sendai for a total of 561 performances

    
Let's take a journey of creation from having "curiosity"

There are secrets in the costumes and the stage equipment that are made to make you feel art! The costume of Mr. microcosmos is only the part of the stomach living in Minilys, has a weight of about 9 kg or more, inside of the mini-lily's coat, you can see the Victorian-like residence, further lighting And a ventilation system. Nico pants are made of folded nonwoven fabrics like origami, inspired by the camera darkroom. The staff took in the inside of the fuselage part over a week and worked to sew it. The costume of 'Russian Cradle' is an old circus style that is somewhat nostalgic. But the material is a very modern and sophisticated one called golden velor in the applique of fake leather.

The whole atmosphere is unified with sepia color, wrapped in warm light. The stage is set about 36 cm lower than other silk performances, and it is designed to be able to carry various props from the rails laid around the stage. In the decorative part of the stage equipment, antique items that were once used are recycled. Each has a history, and new meanings are born from the connection between them. The hot air balloon used in "Theater of Hands" is made of cloth and has a blowing system and plays a role as a projection screen of about 4.3 m in diameter. Approximately 250 hours was spent on making round stomach of Mr. microcosmos. In "Curios", 426 props were also used, the largest in silk history.
