Item: Antique Syracuse China 10" Plate ~ Pattern American Liberty ~ On back of plate is Syracuse logo with © Syracuse China Corporation USA
~ At top of logo is 12-A ~ I researched date marking for Syracuse China and found out the 12 stands for December and A is for 1920 ~ This could have been made for restaurants, railroad cars, or hotels ~ This 10" plate has scallop rim with design in colonial blue ~ Over Liberty is the Liberty Bell, Eagle with wings spread, and Flag with stars in a circle ~ In between each of these is a scroll looking design ~ Center has normal utensil ware but no other damage ~ Weight is 1 pound 7.2 ounces before packing ~
History: Founded in 1871 as Onondaga Pottery Co.(O.A.Co.) and originally produced earthenware ~ In late 19 century O.P.Co began producing fine china for which it found a strong market for restaurants, railroad cars, and hotels ~ Syracuse China was located in Syracuse, N.Y. and the manufacturing facility there closed April 9, 2009  after 138 years in operation ~
