CONTAINS FORMULAS FOR MIXING REDDIG-GLO COLOR CHIPS & MORE!
Up for auction today is a vintage Reddig-Glo book entitled “Creating
and The Art Of Blending Colors In Candles” by Walter Reddig and Mabel Atkins.
It’s soft-cover and printed in 1969.
Here’s the introduction found inside the book:
Isn’t it wonderful to
be able to have beautiful colored candles? Many people make their own candles
for their own use and enjoyment, while others find that candle making has
become a profitable hobby by selling the candles to friends, florists, shops,
and stores. Candles which are especially made to be used with floral
arrangements demand certain shades for harmony. So much can be done during
Thanksgiving, Hallowe’en, Christmas and Easter seasons, as well as many
different occasions, celebrations and anniversaries. Christmas time used to be
a season with decorations and candles of greens and reds, however, this does
not hold true any longer since the harmony of colors used in the homes will
play a major role in selecting the color in candles one desires. Weddings, of
course, naturally call for many candles, including a large wedding candle that
would be the pride and joy of any bride, as well as being a keepsake. Color in
candles is also important with the décor in the homes, business offices,
parties and displays.
Since color plays such
a vital part in the making of beautiful candles, REDDIG-GLO candle coloring
manufacturers are constantly working on better candle coloring and duplication
of colors which can be used with confidence and with the least amount of
detail. You will find in this book, detailed information that you may consider
and use as a reference when making candles. REDDIG-GLO candle color chips have
been primarily designed for controlled coloring in candles. Each diamond shaped
chip is of the same size and contains the same amount of color ingredients as
close as it is possible to obtain; therefore, duplication of colors in candles
can be obtained with reasonable accuracy.
Although REDDIG-GLO
candle coloring is made from the very best of materials, certain precautions
must be taken into consideration. REDDIG-GLO candle coloring comes in a large
variety of shades and there are many requests for additional shades of colors;
therefore, included in this book are formulas on the mixing of REDDIG-GLO
diamond shaped chips with which you can arrive at additional shades. Also,
included is some detailed information in regard to the duplication of shades in
candles.

Formulas For Mixing Reddig-Glo Color Chips
Remember, this auction is for the book only and NOT any candles or
supplies.
The book is in good condition. The front of the cover shows only
slight wear, including light staining. There’s a large amount of sticker
residue, from where a price sticker used to be, in the upper right hand corner.
There’s a small amount of sticker residue, from where a price sticker used to
be, located beneath the “Reddig-Glo” symbol on the cover. There’s very light
scuffing along the top edge. There are a few small crease marks throughout
(some of these show through to the inside of the front cover). There’s a medium
amount of creasing and a light amount of scuffing along the spine. The back of
the cover shows light staining. There are a few small crease marks throughout
(some of these show through to the inside of the back cover). The staples holding the book together have
rusted, however they are still holding the book together very well. The inside
of the front and back covers show light staining. The main pages are lightly
yellowed. A few of the pages also show light staining. The previous owner has
written “2 ½ cups melted wax equals 1lb wax,” at the top of the first page, in
pen. However, all of the pages are still fully legible.
