A pamphlet by the Benedictine monk Joseph Johnston (1656-1723).  It is a reply to a pamphlet by the Archbishop of Canterbury, William Wake (1657-1737), entitled “A Defence of the Exposition of the Doctrine of the Church of England”. They are part of a series of pamphlets between the two gentlemen, which were elicited by Johnston’s translation of “Exposition de la Doctrine de l'église Catholique sur les Matières de Controverse” by the Catholic Bishop Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet (1627-1704).
