The then Local Council (now City) of Hod Hasharon Local Council unites several older settlements in the southern Sharon plane; Magdiel, Ramatayim, Hadar and Ramat Hadar, as well as Ganei Zvi and Nave Neeman which were established at a later stage. The Council was organized in 1964, and 1966 marked the 40th jubilee of the administrative union of the first four settlements.

 

The Hod Hasharon medal depicts on its obverse the emblem of Hod Hasharon bearing the inscription "Hasharon Local Council". On both sides of the point of the shield the names of the four settlements. On the left, an English inscription "Hod Hasharon" and the dates: "5684-5724, 1924-1964". On the upper rim, the inscription "The amalgamation of the four settlements in the Sharon". Below the names of the settlements Magdiel, Ramatayim, Hadar, Ramat Hadar.

A stem with four flowers graces the medal's reverse. Below appears the Hebrew inscription "I am the Rose of Sharon" (Song of Songs), with the English translation on the rim to the left.
