The use of polymeric materials in construction began in the middle of the last century. At the same time, polypropylene fibre appeared a little later, and its main use is to reinforce concrete to prevent cracking. Initially, the fibre was used in road construction, where the material showed excellent results. Subsequently, the composition is also used in the construction and reconstruction of various buildings, which has resulted in a solution with excellent performance.

In the process of construction work with concrete, one of the important steps is shrinkage reinforcement, which reduces the formation of cracks in the process of concrete shrinkage. While steel reinforcing mesh and steel fibre were previously used for this purpose, today polypropylene fibre has taken over the primacy palette - the price of this fibre for concrete and high technical properties that allow it to successfully compete with metal fibre and mesh.

Polypropylene fibre is a synthetic fibre with a diameter of about 20 microns, made by extrusion from isotactic polypropylene and treated with a special composition to improve adhesion in the concrete matrix.
