Name: Rosin Colophony

Synonyms: Rosin

Species: Natural

Rosin is a soft resin of natural origin. The name comes from the Greek word "colophonies", which refers to the Ionian colony called Colophon where this resin was first used.

Rosin is the residue after distilling turpentine from the resin of coniferous trees, mainly pine. This process involves the extraction of turpentine, which is used in many fields such as the chemical industry, dyeing, varnish production and many others. After separating the turpentine, pure rosin remains.

This resin has a characteristic sticky consistency and is often available as yellow-brown or orange granules or blocks. Its scent is intense and resinous.

Rosin is a valuable natural raw material that has been widely used in various fields for centuries. Its unique properties and versatile applications make it still an important component of many industrial products and processes.
