Unique Art Basket sculpture by Maggie Henton.

A fantastic one-off from a talented British artist and weaver. Maggie Henton's work features in the V&A Museum collection and she has published a book on baskets.

This is woven with dyed cane and copper wire into a pillow shape form with a seperate lid piece giving a striking and sculptural look. Colour is greenish with a blue tint. The tones are muted and natural and have been accentuated slightly in some photos due to lighting.

In good used condition, the materials showing some signs of age, but undamaged. Genuine original, signed and numbered. The artists' technique is unique, unmistakable and, as far as I know, unimitated. A real one-off item, ideal as a special gift, to add to a collection, or for display in a high end interior.

Approx 12 1/2 inches long, 10 inches wide and 10 inches high to the tallest tip of lid piece.

A quote about the artist from the V&A website:

"Maggie Henton trained as a textile artist. Her interest in the structure of weaving and the creation of three- dimensional forms led her into working with cane and making baskets. She found she could dye and weave the cane as easily as a textile fibre and often mixes found materials such as wire and plastic with it. This weave pattern was developed from the study of South-East Asian weaving techniques."
