This lovely  antique dress trimming measures 3/4 inch high and is a complex pattern of purple, metallic gold and white thread. It's on the original card and paper covering, and when I measured it, there were still the stated 12 yards. The maker is given as Le Chic Dress Trimming, Germany. The B. Blumenthal Company had a line of buttons and sewing notions with this name, but the  name was not patented until 1947, and this is clearly much older. With Germany as the origin, it must date from before or after WWI and before WWII. The art nouveau look of the graphics, suggests early 1900's to 1918, or early 1920's.  Some of the trim is slightly faded or has some wear on the gold ovals, but it's still usable and beautiful.
