What can this wood be used for?
We cut the Hawthorn wood into handy sized chunks which are perfect for cooking with or use them with your pizza oven, chiminea, outdoor fire pit, barbecue - perfect, petite, pieces of stunning firewood.
Is the wood kiln dried?
No it is certainly not - we believe that the kiln drying process takes away the "heart" of the wood and you do not discover the perfumes and different traits of this wood once it has been kiln dried. All our wood is air dried naturally - just how it should be!
What is the moisture content of this wood?
It does vary depending on the species of wood but generally all the logs are below 20%, with some less than 15% but there is enough moisture in the wood for it to burn well and give off the perfume of the wood (where applicable).
Does all the wood have a perfume when you burn it?
Yes, the majority of the woods do have a distinct perfume, which is more noticeable when you burn it outside.
Does the wood have bark on?
Yes it does but as it is a natural product sometimes the wood will have the bark missing or it is loose.
What size are the logs?
They are all cut to 13cm (5") long with diameters from 5cm to 13cm (2" to 5").
Can I have mixed bags of these logs?
The problem with this is you may not be able to identify each species and we like you to know exactly what you are burning so we send all the same species out in one box and each bag is clearly tagged with the species of wood it contains.
How and when are the logs sent?
We send the Logs out the day after the order has been received, we use UK Mail for an Express Delivery Service which takes between one and two days, depending on your location. A signature will always be required, if you want we can also arrange for you to receive a text from UK Mail on the day of the delivery with a two hour delivery window and any updates - simply let us have a contact mobile telephone number and we will do the rest.
