Movement type details

1. Standard (non-pendulum)

Young Town trigger movement for use with chime unit or music box
standard size: W55mm x H55mm x D17mm (housing)
Battery type: standard AA (not included)
optional metal hanger - details below

2. Pendulum

The pendulum option is the same standard movement (shown left), plus a pendulum unit.

Please note: The shaft length is reduced by 1mm when placed within a pendulum unit. For example, the 14mm movement is reduced to 13mm shaft length - see more details below
The pendulum is powered by a separate AA battery (not included)

Includes built-in hanger (so the 'with hanger' option isn't offered)

Shaft details

Chinese type shaft / spindle
This movement is for 'push-on' hands where the shaft is defined as follows;

hour hand shaft diameter: 5.0mm
minute hand shaft diameter: 3.1mm
mounting thread diameter: 7.5mm (standard thread)

We supply a digital vernier caliper tool which is perfect to measure this accurately if needed.

A choice in shaft length as follows;
The shaft length is the combined length of the threaded mounting bush and hand shafts.

14mm: Thread length 7mm
Suitable for clock dial thicknesses up to 4mm (or 3mm if used as a pendulum type of movement).

17mm: Thread length 10mm
Suitable for clock dial thicknesses up to 7mm (or 6mm if used as a pendulum type of movement).

24mm: Thread length 16mm
Suitable for clock dial thicknesses up to 15mm (or 14mm if used as a pendulum type of movement).

Chime box details


Chime unit with speaker. Full instructions are included for testing and setting up. Speaker simply plugs in, then it's ready to play. Powered by a pair of AA batteries (not included). Automatic night shut-off to avoid disturbance at night.	Slide switch to set melody and period; 1. Ave Maria, striking on the hour. 2. 4x4 Westminster, striking at quarterly intervals. 3. Westminster, striking on the hour. 4. Bim Bam (Ding Dong), striking on the hour. excellent sound quality.	Trigger movement & Chime unit with speaker. The speaker connector plugs into the Chime unit / music box, and the two blue wires connect to trigger movement. We'll include a small two way connector so the kit can be tested and installed without additional parts.

Fixing nut type
We offer a choice in the type of fixing nut. The price is the same.

Hex nut and washer
includes rubber washer, flat metal washer, and brass fixing nut.

The brass washer and nut is fitted at the front of the dial.
The rubber washer is intended to sit behind the clock dial.
Suitable for dial thicknesses up to 4mm with both washers installed.

Slotted round nut
includes rubber washer, and round brass fixing nut.

The brass washer isn't needed which does give a smarter finish.
It uses less of the threaded shaft so can be used for dial thicknesses up to 6mm.
It needs a hole diameter of 10mm.

A metal hanger is available (for the standard movement option) which is placed between the movement and its dial.
