In
Zentralasien wurden die Wände von Palästen, aber auch von einfachen
Behausungen und Jurten mit spektakulären Behängen versehen, die als
suzani (das Afghanische Wort für Nadelarbeit) bezeichnet werden. Suzanis
dienen zum Schmuck der Hochzeitshalle, als Baldachin für Braut und
Bräutigam und als Decke auf dem Hochzeitbett. Der Wichtigste Füllstich
für die Blatt- und Blütenblattmotive, die in Suzani- Arbeiten
vorherrschen,
