Davenport Florentine Fountain Pink Transfer Plate

10 5/8" dia, c. 1820-1850.

Round scalloped shape; ogee curved rim. Light & dark alternating butterflies around rim. Center scene of Neptune with his trident atop a fountain overlooking a river view with figures, a bridge, overscale flowers & vase, & gingerbread architecture house.

Pictorial pattern name backstamp of fountain & flowers "Florentine Fountain". Listed & described p.139 of Coysh & Henrywood's Dictionary of Blue & White Printed Pottery. Not in Petra Williams.

Fine glaze crazing and edge roughness. Small bubble burst on surface.

Still a very good quality plate.
