1976 Wedgwood, New York, 11th State, 200th Anniversary Collector Plate - S6954

Wedgwood China, the English manufacturers of fine porcelain have collaborated with the British American Bicentennial Group to create decorative, china plates that tell each state's story with both pictures and words. This is a beautiful and historic commemorative made of fine porcelain by one of the world's finest manufacturers. The measurements of each plate from the Wedgwood company can be confusing. While the box declares the plate as 10 1/2", and a sticker on the box labels it as 8", the plate actually measures 9" across.

New in box, this plate is in perfect condition and shows the scene Defying the King. "New Yorkers hauled down a 4,000 lb statue of King George III in July 1776 and converted it into musket balls, "so that the King's men could feel the effect of melted majesty." Nine weeks later, with New York ablaze, the Army retreated and a British bombardment from the East River, New Yorkers experienced total warfare".

Show your love for your country and for the Great State of New York with this fine porcelain plate.
