The New York Yankees visited Chicago for this crucial late season pennant race Wednesday nite tilt at old Comiskey Park in front of a large crowd of 36,732 sad SouthSiders.

Mega stars Whitey Ford and Early Wynn squared off in this one with the Yanks finally besting the Pale Hose by a count of 6 to 4.  Tony Kubek smacked a home run for the Yankees, Roger Maris had two hits and Mickey Mantle chipped in with one of his own.

Sherm Lollar took Ford deep in the 7th for the Sox only longball of the evening.
