The CP-516 has a powerful preamp boost, which allows you to dial in as little gain or as much full on distortion as you need, whilst still allowing headroom from the guitars own volume knob.

The four main control knobs - Gain, Treble, Vol, and Bass gives the flexibility to go from a subtle boost to a boost with fuzz. The versitility of the EQ will provide a highy controllable dynamic range , from a near clean boost to a very organic sounding overdrive.
