We are pleased to offer our Shorty 1.25 Inch 2x Barlow Lens with T42 thread adapter - just the same as the Orion 08711 but for less (different branding)!

Suitable for all telescopes that use 1.25" diameter eyepieces.

Our Shorty 2x Barlows are just 2-7/8" long - about half the length of a regular barlow lenses - for added convenience and versatility.  They're fully coated and fully baffled to increase contrast and reduce internal reflections.  It uses an achromatic lens system.

Shorty Barlows work in all types of telescopes, including refractors, reflectors, SCTs and Maksutov Cassegrains with obstructions or low-profile focusers in which longer barlows don't work.  Compared to an eyepiece, Shorty Barlows require an additional ¼" of focus in-travel.

This one comes with a removable 1.25" T thread adapter so that you can attach a camera using a T ring when you want to try astrophotography (not supplied).

One of the most useful and cost effective tools in an amateur astronomers accessory case is a good quality Barlow lens.  A Barlow is a simple concave lens or doublet that, when placed between a telescope's objective lens or mirror and the eyepiece, increases the instrument's effective focal length and boosts the magnifying power of any eyepiece by 1.5x to 3x.  This means that your 25mm eyepiece becomes a 12.5mm eyepiece when used with a 2x Barlow lens. This doubles the number of eyepieces in your collection.  Barlows have other advantages too.  They allow greater, more comfortable eye relief at high magnifications than the equivalent shorter focal length eyepieces allow. This is of great benefit to spectacle wearers.
