Admiral (aka Flora)
3-sides-up folded in Opalescent Glass Bowl
by Beaumont Glass, circa 1898

This is an antique (ca. 1898), opalescent, candy ribbon edge (CRE) bowl in the elegant Admiral (aka Flora) pattern made by the pre-eminent Beaumont Glass Company of Martins' Ferry, Ohio.

The bowl is shaped with three corners up and folded inwards.  The rim is a tightly crimped candy-ribbon edge.  The base is three-footed and scalloped.

Condition.  This bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations.  The opalescence is very rich and fiery.

There are, of course, some minor straw marks ("shearing tool marks") and internal air bubbles from manufacturing commonly associated with the hand manufacturing and finishing of old EAPG, carnival, and opalescent glass.  Because of the hand manufacturing and finishing, no two pieces are identical, each is truly unique.

There is, from manufacturing, a small embedded cinder inclusion on one of the scallops of a base foot (please see close-up photo directly below).

{Above:  Small cinder inclusion from manufacturing inside one of the scalloped feet.}

... a great find and a head turner!

... a great example of Beaumont Glass and would make a fine addition to any collection of old EAPG, carnival and opalescent glass, e.g., Fenton, Dugan, Westmoreland, Jefferson, Millersburg, Northwood, Indiana, Imperial, and others.
